Cerritos College Complete Campus Utility Locating and Mapping

Date: January 2016

C Below completed a multi-phase campus-wide Utility Investigation of all existing utilities at Cerritos College in Norwalk to provide a Utility Map that would aid in the construction of new buildings and parking structures on site. Our locating crews marked out the horizontal and vertical locations of lines including gas, water, sewer, storm drain, power, communications, reclaimed water, and fire water. Our CCTV Video Pipe Inspection robotic cameras were used to record and investigate the condition of all sewer and storm drain lines throughout the campus. C Below’s licensed surveyors scanned all of the markings on-site and sent the information to our drafting team to create a facility map to reference all of the crews’ investigative findings.

C Below ran into nonconductive fiber-optic lines due to no tracer wires and had to physically locate the lines by pushing a conductive rod, by access of a manhole, to make the line conductive and able to be located by our electromagnetic location.

Upon completion of the fieldwork, C Below provided the client with detailed reporting on all utility lines throughout the campus by means of a CAD Map, Video, and CCTV Reporting of sewer and storm drain lines. Cerritos College campus utility investigation was another successful school project for C Below.
